A Bowel Cleanse with Green Smoothies
Cleansing your colon can sometimes be a rather unpleasant experience for many, because most people associate it with invasive enemas, expensive cleansing products, and complicated regimens a lot of practitioners seem to advocate and teach. However, for the general masses juicing, and cleansing and all these kinds of practices are simply not practical for the modern person let alone a typical modern family trying to live healthier.
There is however a saving grace and it can be found in what is affectionately come to be known as the “Green Smoothie”. A bowel cleanse with green smoothies can be a really easy, economical, daily, and especially tasty means of doing natural bowel cleanse instead of something pre packaged. It’s not the easiest thing to do in the world, but most find this method they use the most simply because of the aforementioned reasons, so be sure to give it a chance.
I always recommend doing an organic bowel cleanse instead of using any old vegetables or fruit. The reason for this is that even if the regularly grown produce is nutritionally identical, the organic produce is much less likely to have been exposed to the same level of pesticides, chemicals, and toxins.
I also recommend buying from your local farms as well if at all possible; sometimes they may advertise that they grow their produce conventionally but may in fact grow to “organic standards” without having the official label to cost cutting, so always be on the lookout for local farmers markets, as they have cheap prices as well. Be sure even if you do buy organic, that you use a good veggie wash to remove the dirt and grime that may have been collected so you’re not taking that into your body.
A lot of people like to do something fancier or exotic like a herbal bowel cleanse, but really all you need to do is find your favorite fruits, I recommend blueberries, strawberries, elderberries, and aronia berries in particular, but any berry is great because they are nutritionally dense. Add some bananas and other fiber rich fruits, add some greens you enjoy like kale, spinach, or chard if you like- any leafy greens will do, and then add some ice, and voila you blend it up and you got yourself a healthy and nutritious green smoothie.
All you need is a high powered blender, some fresh or frozen produce and a few moments of your time and you have yourself a daily nutritious treat that will keep your digestive system in tip top shape all day and every day, so give them a try, you’ll find plenty of recipe ideas online, including this site.
